About me

Biography

I am an associate professor in the Faculty of Engineering Technology and a member of the Digital Future Lab, a research center of Hasselt University and a Flanders Make core lab. I obtained a master's degree in Computer Science and Knowledge Engineering in 2004 and a PhD in Computer Science in 2012. In general, my research revolves around the engineering of interactive and smart computing systems, including the modeling, prototyping, and evaluation of new means to interact with such systems from a developer's and end-user's perspective. I have a particular interest in human-centered support systems (e.g., in the context of the manufacturing industry), explainable AI and human-AI interaction, interactive visualizations to enhance intelligibility and user control, and multimodal interaction and multisensory experiences. I also teach several courses in engineering technology, computer science and human-computer interaction at Hasselt University.
